Cannabis is the most consumed worldwide illegal psychoactive substance, but the demand of treatment is low in comparison with other substances. In recent years, these have been increasing, and with them, so have systematic research on psychosocial treatme nts for problem s with cannabis use. Objectives. The aim of this study was to conduct a literature review on psychological treatments for addiction to cannabis, clarifying their effectiveness. Methodology. We have conducted a search in PsycINFO and PubMed d atabase using as keywords "psychological treatment" and "cannabis" and limiting the time period between 2005 and 2015. Finally, we have selected a total of 24 articles. Results. The results of each of the selected articles are presented, divided in two sec tions: general population and specific for adolescents. Conclusions . First, the effectiveness of psychological treatments in treating problems with cannabis use is highlighted. Second, the combination of contingency management with motivational interviewing and/or cognitive - behavioral therapy seems to be the best tool address the problem.
