contents Los Monjes Nicolás Salom Franco Derecho The Monks International Right national sovereignty The title of this essay should cause fear to Colombian consciencebecause it deals with one of the most tarnishing events in ourdiplomatic and institutional life.On November 22nd is the fiftieth anniversary (half a century) ofthe date when our Ministry of Foreign Affairs gave to the Venezuelan Government the most unfortunate «DiplomaticNote» which any government had been able to conceive in orderto renounce, against every historical and juridical evidence, toour sovereignty upon one part of the national sea territory. Theapparent insignificancy of this fact just had and has as a supportthe juridical ignorance and the narrow Andean and Medite-rranean mind which has dominated our Ministry of ForeignAffairs, with scarce intervals of brilliant exceptions. In order tomaintain alive this event in the collective memory, we make ahistorical review of the episodes which brought about the selfdispossession of our sea sovereignty by giving «The Monks»keys to «sister» Republic of Venezuela 2002 artículo científico 0121-8697 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=85101812 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=851 Revista de Derecho application/pdf Universidad del Norte Revista de Derecho (Colombia) Num.18
