It focuses onlanguage learning anxiety related tospeaking skill. This study intendedto find out the external factors thatproduce anxiety in the developmentof the oral competence in a group ofpsychology students. In order to attainthe objectives of this study, theinstruments used were diaries,questionnaires, recordings (personalopinions, short oral presentations)and interviews. With regard to externalfactors that produce anxiety inrelation to activities, results show thatall kind of oral activities produce ahigh degree of anxiety in students,especially non prepared oral tasks.They also show a lack of participationin class with a strong rejection to orallearning tasks. Among the possiblecauses of this reticence, it is the factthat they do not want to be mockedin class. Also, Speaking skill was notencouraged in the first levels in theprior approach.
