Tiefenbacher Multidisciplinarias (Ciencias Sociales) flood Disaster vulnerability Th is paper investigates vulnerability and fl oodhazard in two borderland communities. Amodel for assessing vulnerability is applied toU.S. and Mexican communities of Del Rioand Ciudad Acuña to evaluate the spatialdistribution of the characteristics of people,places, neighborhoods, and systems that infl uencethe impacts of fl ood events that occur along theRio Grande/Río Bravo. Spatial data from theU.S. and Mexican 2000 censuses are combinedat block group and Área Geográfi ca EstadísticaBásica (AGEB) scales to evaluate demographicand other descriptors of the areas impacted byfl oods.
