  • Mentoring Entrepreneurial Networks: mapping conceptions of participants in technological-based business incubators in Brazil Helder Pontes Regis Sônia Maria R. Calado Dias James Anthony Falk Antonio Virgilio Bittencourt Bastos Política entrepreneurial cognition – entrepreneurial career – network – mentoring – cognitive maps The recent entrepreneurship research agenda includes the analysis of cognitivestructures of successful entrepreneurs, revealing an important tool for theexamination of an entrepreneurial career. Using techniques of cognitive maps, thisstudy explores the concepts of a successful career and the network itself, as awhole, for career development. Fifty-three entrepreneurs were studied, in seventechnological incubators in the city of Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil. Specifically, thisstudy aimed to map the shared meanings of the incubated entrepreneurs regardinginformal support networks. Such networks support the entrepreneurial career andthe present study explores the characteristics and the conceptual model thatunderlies the networks. The data collection was achieved through interviewsthrough a free evocation technique. The shared meanings indicate the existence ofinherent thought categories that support network context in the incubatorenvironment, mainly the mentoring networks. The results endorse theinterpretation of an informal mentoring model emerging from the dominantevocations concerning a successful career and of the network itself as promoter ofcareer development. 2007 artículo científico 1579-0185 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=93101307 https://www.redalyc.org/journal/931/93101307/ https://www.redalyc.org/journal/931/93101307/html/ https://www.redalyc.org/journal/931/93101307/93101307.epub https://www.redalyc.org/journal/931/93101307/movil en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=931 Redes.
