| contents | Synthesis of CdS nanoparticles through colloidal rout G. Loaiza O. Vázquez Cuchillo U. Pal A. Bautista Hernández Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas Colloidal nanoparticles of CdS were prepared by mixing 1.86x10-3 M Cd(NO3)2 and 2.5x10-3 M (NH4)2S solutions ofdifferent proportions in acetonitrile solvent. UV-VIS optical absorption spectra revealed the size-dependent shift ofexcitonic transition in the nanoparticles. Variation of excitonic transition shift with the growth of nanoparticles in themixture with time and with the variation of cation (Cd++) or anion (S--) contents in the solution have been studied. Ingeneral, the size of the nanoparticles is smaller for the solutions containing excess cations. However, the growth ofparticles in the solution terminate rapidly when either of the ions were in large excess, due to the formation of doubledielectric layer around the initially grown particles. Evolution of particle size with time and with the variation ofcation/anion ratio has been studied. The structure, crystallinity and size distribution of the nanoparticles are presented 2000 artículo científico 1665-3521 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=94201107 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=942 Superficies y vacío application/pdf Sociedad Mexicana de Ciencia y Tecnología de Superficies y Materiales A.C.
