  • Structural characterization of VC0.88 using transmission Extended Electron Energy Loss Fine Structure Spectroscopy A. Duarte Moller C. González Valenzuela F. Espinosa Magaña Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas VC EELS EXEELFS We investigate the feasibility to obtain the local structure of the vanadium carbide system (VC0.88)of transmission coreionization electron energy loss spectroscopy. The near edge structure of C K edge and V L23 edge are discussed. Thestructural parameters were found analyzing the extended fine structure associated to the ionization edge in the core losswindow. In order to improve the results, the experimental phase shifts were calculated and applied on each interatomicvalue. The interatomic distance for V - C bond was 0.20 nm and 0.21 nm which is very close to the expected value of0.205 nm. A second interatomic distance was found and corresponds to the C – C bond with a numerical value of 0.3 nmand 0.33 nm which is also close to the respective expected value of 0.29 nm. These values were obtained by analyzing thefine structure associated to the carbon K-edge and those associated to the vanadium L23-edge. The interatomic distancesare in good agreement to the expected values for VC0.88 when the experimental phase shifts were applied 2003 artículo científico 1665-3521 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=94216407 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=942 Superficies y vacío application/pdf Sociedad Mexicana de Ciencia y Tecnología de Superficies y Materiales A.C.
