contents Trading digital information goods based on semantic technologies Wolfgang Maass Wernher Behrendt Aldo Gangemi Multidisciplinaria (Ciencias Naturales y Exactas) information goods electronic markets semantic technologies distributed architecture Digital information goods constitute a growing class of economic goods. During decision making for apurchase a buyer searches for information about digital information goods, such as information about thecontent, price and trading information, usage information, how it can be presented, and which legal restrictionsapply. We present a logical container model for knowledge-intensive digital information goods (knowledgecontent object - KCO) that directly references formalised semantic descriptions of key information types oninformation goods. Key information types are formalised as plug-in slots (facets). Facets can be instantiated bysemantic descriptions that are linked with domain ontologies. We have identified six logically congruent facettypes by which a user can interpret information goods. KCOs are mediated and managed by a technicalmiddleware, called Knowledge Content Carrier Architecture - KCCA. Based on the technical and logicalstructure of a KCO we will discuss five economic implications that drive further research. 2007 artículo científico 0718-1876 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=96520303 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=965 Journal of Theoretical and Applied Electronic Commerce Research application/pdf Universidad de Talca Journal of Theoretical and Applied Electronic Commerce Research (Chile) Num.3 Vol.2
