contents Silica Composites With Nickel In Situ PU/PVP Film for pH‐Responsive and ROS‐Stimulated Anticancer Drug Delivery System Neeraja Bose Balaganesh Danagody Kalaivizhi Rajappan Ganesh Munuswamy Ramanujam Aswathy Anilkumar Journal of Applied Polymer Science ABSTRACTIncrease in chemotherapy effect of drugs has remained a challenge for cancer curing. Improving an implantable drug delivery system with increased ROS activity and stimuli responsiveness could be a better choice. Focusing on flexibility, thermal stability, and biocompatibility, polyurethane can serve as an excellent material for variant applications. Surface modification is a feasible method for improving an ideal substrate. Blending polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and incorporating green‐routed nanocomposite can enhance hydrophilicity, swellability, and biocompatibility. On analyzing the physicochemical changes, the SiNiO@PU/PVP film has lesser pore volume and porous nature than the Si@PU/PVP film; also, the major swelling ratio is higher for Si@PU/PVP. On correlating in vitro drug release and anticancer studies, the Si@PU/PVP film showed 92.3% release at 4.2 pH and 70% of THP‐1 cell death. Thus, comparing the Si@PU/PVP film can remarkably act as an implantable anticancer drug delivery system and water antipathogen or antimicrobial substrate. 10.1002/app.57230 http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/termsAndConditions#vor
