| contents | Piezoelectric‐Enhanced PVDF Membrane‐Wrapped Yarn for Gait Detection Ju Li Chuanle Xie Wenwen Liu Linyu Sun Yantao Gao Zan Lu Fujun Xu Wei Liu Journal of Applied Polymer Science ABSTRACTPolyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) exhibits excellent biocompatibility, high flexibility, and light weight, making it a promising material for wearable sensors. Accordingly, in this study, a membrane‐wrapped piezoelectric yarn (MWPY) was fabricated using a novel membrane‐rolling process that requires no additional polarization, with silver‐plated nylon yarn as the core material and PVDF nanofibers as the outer layer. The MWPY exhibits excellent mechanical properties, with a tensile strength of 94.30 MPa and an elongation at break of 122.59% at 600 Twist per meter (TPM). After twisting, the β‐phase crystallinity of the PVDF nanofibers is significantly improved, resulting in good piezoelectric properties for the yarn, with a maximum output voltage of 281.08 mV. Additionally, the yarn maintains stable performance even after 3000 durability tests. Finally, the piezoelectric sensor based on MWPY exhibits high sensitivity, stability, and mechanical elasticity, making it suitable for wearable sensors. It enables gait detection applications and shows unlimited potential in emerging wearable technologies and healthcare fields. 10.1002/app.57586 http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/termsAndConditions#vor |
