- Purification of PNS From Sanqi Extract Using a Rosin‐Based Polymer Composite: Adsorption and Mechanism Zhenfang Zeng Wei Wei Hao Li Wen Li Lijuan Bai Mengling Wei Jiabao Liu Danmei Chen Fuhou Lei Journal of Applied Polymer Science ABSTRACTDeveloping an easily synthesized and efficient adsorbent for separating Panax notoginseng saponins (PNS) from Sanqi extract remains a significant challenge. Here, a novel rosin‐based polymer composite (RBM/DT) was synthesized using hydrogenated rosin glycol acrylate (HREGA), divinylbenzene (DVB), and N,N‐dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA), in combination with diatomite, a naturally occurring adsorbent. The physicochemical properties of RBM/DT were characterized by multiple analytical techniques, revealing a mesoporous structure, narrow particle size distribution, and good thermal stability. Following the application of RBM/DT for the purification of PNS, the content of PNS increased markedly from 49.32% to 88.33%. Quantum chemical calculations indicated that van der Waals forces, hydrogen bonding, and electrostatic interactions contributed to the process. Thermodynamic analysis confirmed that the adsorption was spontaneous, endothermic, and involved chemisorption. Collectively, these findings suggest that RBM/DT is an effective, thermally stable, and reusable biosorbent for PNS purification from Sanqi extract. 10.1002/app.57621 http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/termsAndConditions#vor
