contents Performance of Hydrocyclone and Filter Press Systems in Acetylated Corn Starch Washing: A Comparative Industrial Study Michelle Thiemi Masotti Danielle Specht Malta Ana Paula Biz Mariana Aguiar Cargnin Franciny Campos Schmidt Starch - Stärke ABSTRACT This study evaluates the impact of hydrocyclone and filter press washing technologies on the properties of cross‐linked acetylated corn starch, water consumption, and the characteristics of effluents generated by each system. The experiments were conducted on an industrial scale. Although no significant differences were observed in the properties of the dried modified starch, the hydrocyclone system consumed 2.38 times more water to achieve an ash content below 0.3%. Also, it generated a larger volume of effluent with a 20% higher organic load. Consequently, the filter press system proved more efficient, minimizing environmental impact and offering potential improvements to current industrial practices. 10.1002/star.70049 http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/termsAndConditions#vor
