| contents | <p>This paper investigates a seismic retrofit technique named e-CLT, which is part of the solution for integrated seismic and energy rehabilitation of buildings developed in the framework of the research project e-SAFE funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program. According to this technique, the RC structure is cladded bymeans of CLT panels equipped with friction dampers, to increase lateral stiffness, strength, and energy dissipation capacity. The effectiveness of the e-CLT system has been proved by a full-scale experimental test. A finite element numerical model of the RC frame with e-CLT system has been developed and calibrated based on the experimental results. Hence, guidelines for the design of seismic strengthening of multistorey RC framed building structures by e-CLT system have been drawn based on the results of a parametric analysis conducted on a set of RC case study frames representative of a variety of existing buildings not designed for seismic resistance.</p> |
