| contents |
Artificial intelligence is becoming more integrated into our lives every day. It is inevitable that the field of education will be affected by and benefit from this technology. This study examines the readability scores of narrative texts generated by ChatGPT for the Turkish language course, specifically within the context of 6th-grade students. A qualitative research design was employed, utilizing document analysis as the methodological approach. Ateşman's (1997) readability formula was used to analyze the texts produced by artificial intelligence. In line with this formula, the texts were examined in terms of average word length, average sentence length, and readability scores. According to the findings, the average word length of the texts produced by artificial intelligence ranged from 2.48 to 2.72 syllables. The average sentence length of the texts was found to be between 9 and 13.4 words. Readability scores ranged from 54.6 to 75.7. These data are similar to the texts of the textbook examined in other studies in the literature. Additionally, when other studies in the literature were considered, these values may be accepted relatively high for the 6th-grade level.
|
