| contents | <p><b>Genus <i>Protobombus</i> Cockerell</b></p><p>The genus <i>Protobombus</i> Cockerell is a group of modestly robust, small to mediumsized bees, superficially similar to <i>Electrapis</i> Cockerell except in the form of the metabasitarsus, more consistently sinuate 2Rs (variable in <i>Electrapis</i>), and typically smaller body size (the smallest of the currently described species of <i>Electrapis</i> are about the size of the largest described species of <i>Protobombus</i>). Species of <i>Protobombus</i> are known as inclusions in Baltic and Cambay ambers, and also as compressions from the Eckfeld Maar and Grube Messel.</p> |
