(Fig. 29D–J)</b></p><p><b>Range:</b> —Hispaniola; Costa Rica and Panama; Andes from Venezuela to Bolivia (CO, LP, SC, TA); southeastern Brazil and adjacent Paraguay.</p><p><b>Ecology:</b> —Fairly common; saxicolous and terrestrial on earthen banks, roadsides, and rocks, in humid forests; (1000–)1350–2400(–3900) m.</p><p><b>Notes:</b> —This is one of three Bolivian species (along with <i>E. huacsaro</i> and <i>E. nigrescens</i>) belonging to the monophyletic group of <i>E. ciliatum</i> (Vasco <i>et al.</i> 2009b). This group of nine species is characterized by rhizomes that dry blackish and produce a shiny, lacquer-like exudate when dry. It has been monographed by Vasco <i>et al.</i> (2009a). <i>Elaphoglossum ciliatum</i> (C.Presl) T.Moore from Costa Rica to southern Peru may occur in Bolivia. It has shorter leaves (20–45 × 1.2–2.3 cm <i>vs</i>. 30–80 × 2.2–3.5 cm); thinner (2–3 mm thick <i>vs</i>. 2.5–4 mm) and longer-creeping rhizomes that lack prominent scales, and is predominantly epiphytic.</p>
