| contents | <p>This study delves into the transformative potential of No-Code (NC) and Low-Code platforms in modern software development practices. The research aims to investigate whether these platforms could replace conventional coding methods by simplifying project management and enhancing product quality. Through a practical comparative study, involving the development, testing, and comparison of conventionally coded and NC applications, the research scrutinises their efficacy based on equal requirements. User acceptance testing, adhering to ISO/IEC 25019:2023 standards, and a structured survey employing non-probability convenience and snowball sampling methods provide both quantitative and qualitative data. Analysis reveals that while NC development outpaces conventional methods by 7.4 times in speed, it presents limitations in essential features, customization, migration, and export functionalities. While NC platforms demonstrate efficiency in small to medium-scale development and rapid prototyping, these constraints could jeopardise application security, data protection, and meeting business needs. This study opposes the idea that a faster software development approach always results in superior outcomes, highlighting the compromises inherent in the NC approach. Additionally, the research question of whether the No-Code and Low-Code platforms replace the conventional software development methods remains unanswered as the extent of the NC technology evolution and the resolution of its limitations and challenges are still uncertain and could not be tested within the scope of this study. Therefore, organisations considering NC platforms are advised to carefully weigh speed against feature limitations and security risks, particularly for projects requiring extensive customisation or data portability.</p> |
