| contents | <p><span>The fight against poverty is one of the millennium goals; this question is all the more worrying because it is one of the causes of inequalities between men. An impetus of solidarity with the poorest is remarkable in most coun- tries to date, so it is saying that the fate of the poor does not leave indifferent. This phenomenon, which was already present in ancient Rome, does not seem to have aroused such mobilization in this ancient society. On the contrary, the poor who lived in conditions bordering on dishonor, was not the object of a particular compassion neither on the part of the people nor on the part of the authorities, who reproached him for his passivity and his lack of will. to get out of his precarious situation, especially since some of his peers have been able to do so by hard work. This contribution aims to show that the situation of the poor was not at the heart or the concerns of his fellow citizens or the policy put in place by the leaders.</span></p> |
