-
An audio-visual rendering of magnetic field measurements captured by Parker Solar Probe's Fluxgate Magnetometer during the "Gorgeous Switchback" of November 21, 2021 (14:06-14:10 UT) during Encounter 10. The original RTN (Radial-Tangential-Normal) coordinates have been transformed into 4D space using the Hopf fibration and rendered in 3D through stereographic projection.

The visualization represents the transformed magnetic field data through synchronized visual and auditory elements. The visual component displays data points in XYZ space with time-based color coding. The sonification maps spatial parameters to sound: height (Y-axis) controls the pitch of mandolin samples played back via granular synthesis, lateral position (X-axis) determines stereo panning, and depth (Z-axis) modulates amplitude.

The data playback rate is approximately one data point per 30ms, allowing for detailed exploration of the magnetic field structure during the switchback event. This novel representation enables the identification of previously hidden patterns through both visual and auditory analysis.
