contents
Frequency inverters can be classified into two types of control: scalar and vector. They are used to control the speed of three-phase induction motors and the power supplied, promoting energy savings and smoother motor operation, avoiding mechanical failures caused by high current peaks during startup. The goal is to present the different control modes of frequency inverters, aiming to optimize the use of three-phase induction motors in the industry. When applying this system, it is necessary to
consider the advantages and precautions, both with the motor running idle and with a coupled load. Processes will be analyzed to demonstrate the effectiveness of each control mode through simulations with different load levels. From the data obtained, it was possible to verify that vector control stands out due to its algorithm that compensates for torque and speed, unlike scalar control,
which adjusts the voltage-frequency ratio. This allows vector control to maintain constant torque for specific functions.
