- <p><span><span>The role of technological advancements to address environmental issues is an important topic, but there is often </span><span>a </span><span>lack of understanding of the nature of those technologies. This study is part of a European </span><span>Union-</span><span>funded project, exploring </span><span>perceptions</span><span> and experiences with Carbon Capture, </span><span>Utilization</span><span> and Storage technologies</span><span> (CCUS)</span><span>. Based on five semi-structured interviews, this multiple case study explores the beliefs and understanding of five people concerning the implementation of CCUS and the installation of a </span><span>demonstration </span><span>facility in a nearby </span><span>location </span><span>to them. The interview protocol was partly based on a video developed by the project to inform the public about CCUS technologies. We followed an instrumental approach to the data collection as </span><span>the </span><span>findings of this study will be used to inform policy writing within a European Union context. Preliminary findings </span><span>indicate</span><span> that 1) there is low awareness of CCUS technologies, 2) based on past experiences there is scepticism on the adoption of </span><span>new technologies</span><span> and the organizations involved, and 3) more information is needed for the public to form an opinion on these technologies.</span><span> </span></span><span> </span></p>
