contents
The present study aimed to investigate the phytochemical composition of Argemone mexicana L.
(Svarnakshiri) flowers. Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of bioactive compounds,
including tannins, saponins, flavonoids, phenols, reducing sugars, and alkaloids, in the hydroethanolic
extract of the flowers. Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) profiling further confirmed the complexity
of the phytochemical composition, with multiple spots detected in different solvent systems. The
findings of this study suggest that A. mexicana flowers possess a rich phytochemical profile, which may
be responsible for their traditional medicinal uses and warrants further investigation for potential
therapeutic applications.
