contents
This document outlines the goal and scope of the work carried out in WP2 in relation to task T2.1. Following the scope of task T2.1, its main assumptions rely on analysing cluster components, here: pillars, as considered in WP1, and their spatial patterns. The key element of this task is to investigate and understand relations between the geometrical and material features of the samples and their dynamic properties, and to select those parameters that are of particular importance to the design. In this document, we report on the theoretical background for the methods used, implementation activities carried out and the results obtained. The main purpose of this document is to report on deliverable D2.1, which is focused on analysing considered structures' dynamic responses and selecting the most influential parameters for the design: D2.1 : Selection and characterization of the most influential features and design parameters for the considered phononic structures. (M24)

The above-mentioned goal was achieved through the sensitivity analysis. For this purpose a systematic analysis approach was adopted, which consisted of the following steps:
- geometrical and numerical modelling of the structures, including their
parametrization (both at the geometrical and numerical level),
- developing a framework for model generation, analysis and results collection,
- selecting and adapting methods for the sensitivity analysis,
- performing numerical analyses,
- postprocessing the results,
- analysis and selection of key parameters.
We focus on two types of numerical models of phononic structures: (a) containing one isolated cluster component (named as 1x1) in the unit cell, and (b) containing an array of 5-by-5 cluster components (named as 5x5). The latter model, constituting a supercell, allows for studying the influence of randomization of various geometrical parameters on the dynamic response.
