| contents |
Abstract

Childhood immunization is one of the most effective public health interventions to prevent vaccine-preventable diseases and reduce child mortality. However, failure to complete childhood immunization remains a major concern in many parts of the world, including Howlwadag District, Mogadishu, Somalia. This study examines the factors associated with the failure to complete childhood immunization, focusing on accessibility, socio-cultural influences, and healthcare service delivery.

Using a cross-sectional study design, data was collected through structured questionnaires and interviews with parents, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. The findings reveal that limited access to healthcare facilities, negative perceptions of vaccines, inadequate awareness, financial constraints, and religious or cultural beliefs significantly contribute to immunization dropout rates. Additionally, logistical challenges such as vaccine shortages and weak health infrastructure further hinder immunization efforts.

The study emphasizes the need for increased public awareness campaigns, improved healthcare accessibility, and stronger community engagement to enhance immunization coverage. Recommendations include strengthening routine immunization services, addressing misconceptions through targeted education, and improving policy interventions to ensure full immunization compliance. These findings provide valuable insights for policymakers, healthcare providers, and organizations working to improve childhood immunization coverage in Somalia.
|
