| contents |
ABSTRACT

The aim of this document is to provide a first version of guidelines concerning concepts relating to computerized systems used by National EuroFIR Members’ FCDB compiler organisations and EuroFIR Web Services to allow effective management, updating, extending and comparability of data in the Food Composition Databases (FCDB) and to interchange of data between the EuroFIR FCDBs. The goal of these concepts is to ensure and to strengthen mutual confidence in scientific results obtained with each computerized system in the EuroFIR project. The benefits of the use of a validated system are the traceability of the accuracy of the introduced data and the reduction of the risk of failure of the system.

The application of a Quality Management System (QMS) in the National EuroFIR Members’ FCDB compiler organisations and the Food Data Platform doesn’t only cover criteria related to hardware, software and peripheral components but also deals with responsibilities, training, facilities and equipment, maintenance and disaster recovery, data security, validation and archiving.

Taking into account the outcome of the questionnaire for compilers1 it is has been proven that there is a need for a guideline concerning a minimum set of criteria to guarantee the quality of the data of FCDB used in the National EuroFIR Members’ FCDB compiler organisations and the Food Data Platform.

This document defines basic quality assurance concepts related to the management and technical competence of computerized systems used for the development and updating of FCDBs. It concerns responsibilities, security aspects, the necessity for contingency plans, back-ups and archives, standard operating procedures (SOP), validation and assessment of the system
|
