contents
This study investigates the performance of Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (FRP) composites in strengthening existing concrete structures. The increasing deterioration of infrastructure necessitates effective rehabilitation techniques, and FRP composites have emerged as a promising solution due to their high strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance, and ease of application. This research focuses on evaluating the flexural behavior of reinforced concrete (RC) beams strengthened with different types of FRP composites, including Carbon FRP (CFRP) and Glass FRP (GFRP), applied in various configurations. Experimental testing was conducted on a series of RC beams, both control (un strengthened) and strengthened with FRP, under four-point bending. The study examines the influence of FRP type, wrapping scheme (e.g., fully wrapped, U-wrapped, and strip-wrapped), and the number of FRP layers on the load-carrying capacity, deflection characteristics, and failure modes of the strengthened beams. The experimental results are compared with theoretical predictions based on established analytical models. The research aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the effectiveness of FRP strengthening techniques and contribute to the development of design guidelines for practical applications. The results demonstrate the significant enhancement in structural performance achievable through FRP strengthening, highlighting its potential for extending the service life of existing concrete infrastructure.
