| contents | <p><em><span>Integrating complementary traditional medicine with modern medical practices in community health centers (CHCs) presents both opportunities and challenges. In Gianyar Regency, Bali, efforts to promote traditional medicine, such as family medicinal plant programs, have faced significant obstacles. This study aims to explore the feasibility of collaboration among CHC administrators to support such integration. A qualitative study was conducted using eight focus group discussions (FGDs) during mandatory monthly mini-workshops involving all administrators responsible for various CHC programs. These discussions aimed to examine the challenges and potential for integrating traditional and modern medical practices. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify key themes related to barriers and opportunities for collaboration. The findings revealed limited collaboration among administrators due to differing program priorities, professional restrictions preventing doctors from promoting herbal medicine, and financial barriers, including lack of insurance coverage for traditional practices. Other challenges included the greater accessibility and affordability of modern medicine, low community awareness, and inadequate resources. The study suggests that successful integration requires systemic changes, such as revising professional guidelines, expanding insurance coverage, enhancing community education, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders. Addressing these barriers is crucial to developing a more holistic and culturally sensitive healthcare system in community settings</span></em></p> |
