- <p>This factsheet defines and characterises biogenic waste and residues and gives an overview of common examples, applications and the benefits of exchanging fossil feedstock with biogenic waste and residues. It describes the challenges of valorising and using these resources as feedstock for bio-based products and lists relevant EU-directives and regulations governing biogenic waste. </p> <p>BioReCer investigates four different case studies that are using biogenic waste and residues as feedstock for bio-based value chains, i.e. agricultural waste and residues, forestry residues, municipal oragnic waste and wastewater, and waste, algal sludge and wastewater from the fish-canning industry.</p> <p>By promoting the sustainability and trade of biological resources, BioReCer will increase the added value, use, as well as social acceptance of bio-based products.</p>
