Such disasters can pose serious problems for the elderly and are often considered a vulnerable group. However, the elderly can make significant contributions to disaster management with their life experiences and risk perceptions. Therefore, it is necessary for them to actively participate in disaster planning and emergency decision-making processes. This support can also inspire younger generations and strengthen the mental health of society. Therefore, considering the role and needs of the elderly in the post-trauma period, appropriate measures should be taken by policymakers and other sectors of society.</p>
