contents
Sleep is an essential physiological process that affects immune system health, longevity, cognitive function, and metabolic control. Increased risks of obesity, immunological dysfunction, neurodegenerative diseases, and cardiovascular disease are associated with poor sleep quality and inadequate rest (Walker, 2017). The circadian rhythm, sleep architecture, and neurotransmitter activity all interact intricately to regulate sleep (Rasch & Born, 2013).Hormonal balance, cellular repair, and memory consolidation all depend on deep sleep, especially slow-wave sleep. Techniques including managing night-time rituals, optimizing light exposure, and practicing good sleep hygiene can improve the quality of sleep and advance general health (National Sleep Foundation, 2020). This essay examines the scientific underpinnings of sleep, the negative health effects of sleep deprivation, and evidence-based strategies for maximizing rest for longevity. A longer lifespan and better well-being can result from comprehending and putting these ideas into practice.
