  • <p>Despite ongoing efforts to promote gender equality, women remain underrepresented in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields in South Africa. This systematic review explores the key challenges contributing to gender disparities, including socio-cultural biases, limited access to mentorship, and workplace discrimination. Additionally, the study examines existing inclusion strategies such as policy interventions, educational reforms, and industry-driven diversity initiatives aimed at fostering greater participation of women in STEM. By analyzing current trends and successful case studies, this review highlights actionable recommendations to bridge the gender gap and create a more inclusive STEM ecosystem in South Africa.</p>
