contents
Genus Allomantispa Liu, Wu, Winterton & Ohl, 2015

Allomantispa Liu, Wu, Winterton & Ohl, 2015: 187.

Type species: Allomantispa tibetana Liu, Wu & Winterton, 2015: 190, by original designation.

Revised diagnosis. Foreleg with a pair of distally bifid pretarsal claws. Male pronotum with a pair of densely setose patches anterior to maculae, and with a pair of ventral projections on anterior margin of tubular portion, but both are absent in the female. Wings with pigmented markings; longitudinal veins with alternating pale and dark color; pterostigma distinctly remote from RA and connected with it by a short crossvein; two gradate series of crossveins present. Male tergum 8 with ventral margin not extended to incorporate spiracles 8 but very close to them; tergum 9 deeply arched anteroventrally with posterior margin strongly convex; sternum 9 broadly scoop-like, posteriorly with a large median process; gonarcus posteriorly with paired lobes. Female sternum 7 produced posterolaterally, without crumena; gonapophysis 9 enlarged and unpaired; gonopore large, distinctly produced; bursa copulatrix anteriorly produced into a lobe; spermatheca proximally with two lobes.

Distribution. China, Myanmar.

Remarks. Liu et al. (2015) described that the dorsal surface of pronotum bears a number of Stitz organs in A. mirimaculata and A. tibetana. In fact, Stitz organs are present as minute, coniform and modified setae, normally occurring at the tip of the fore femoral spines but sometimes also on the pronotum (e.g. Gerstaeckerella, Theristria discolor (Westwood, 1852)). However, based on our examination, the pronotal setae in Allomantispa are long, with prominent bases (Fig. 4 A-D; I-L), not having the typical form of Stitz organs (Poivre, 1974, 1978; Lambkin, 1986a; Pérez-de la Fuente and Peñalver, 2019).

Key to species of Allomantispa

1 Head pale yellowish-brown, with three transverse dark markings respectively on frons and vertex. Pronotum dorsally reddish-brown with indistinct dark markings. Fore femur narrow, brown. Forewing distinctly widened at middle, without cloudy brownish markings, but with posterior margin continuously edged brown; pterostigma very pale. Hind wing CuA fused with A1 for a considerable distance (Liu et al., 2015: Fig. 5 ….….................................... A. mirimaculata Liu & Ohl

- Head largely black-brown, without transverse dark marking but with yellowish-brown or yellow markings on frons and vertex. Pronotum dorsally reddish-brown or blackish with yellow markings. Fore femur elliptical, reddish-brown or black and outer surface with yellow. Forewing not widened but nearly uniform in width at middle, with cloudy brownish markings; pterostigma cream-yellow, but brown medially. Hind wing CuA separate from or touching A1…. …............................................. 2

2 Frons with a longitudinal yellowish-brown stripe; vertex laterally with pair of annular yellowish markings. Male pronotum dorsally with densely setose patches nearly as large as maculae. Mesonotum anterolaterally without a pair of yellow stripes. Metanotum medially with a long longitudinal yellow stripe. Forewing CuP approximating A1; A1 simple. Hind wing CuA separated from A1 and connecting it with a distinct cu-a. Male sternum 9 not surpassing apex of ectoprocts; posteromedial process narrow and blade-like; distal portion of gonocoxites

9 not elongated; hypomeres curved outwards; gonarcus posteromedially with paired lobes short, straight and apically truncated (Fig. 4L, P, 9O; Liu et al., 2015: Figs. 2–4)…. …............................................................................................. A. tibetana Liu, Wu & Winterton

- Frons with transverse yellow stripe; vertex medially with longitudinal yellow stripe and laterally with pair of yellow spots. Male pronotum dorsally with densely setose patches about six times as large as maculae. Mesonotum anterolaterally with pair of yellow stripes. Metanotum with only small longitudinal or subtriangular yellow stripe on scutellum. Forewing CuP not approximating A1; A1 bifurcate. Hind wing CuA touching A1; cu-a attenuate or absent. Male sternum 9 surpassing apex of ectoprocts; posteromedial process large, broad and coniform; distal portion of gonocoxites 9 slenderly elongate, abruptly and vertically bended ventrad; hypomeres curved inwards; gonarcus posteromedially with paired lobes curved laterally and apically acute (Figs. 1–9)…. …........................................................................................................... A. coniprocessa sp. nov.
