  • <p>Traffic Signs, especially Guide Signs, have a very important role in traffic flow control. for<br>best performance, they should be effortlessly legible. In this research, it is intended to<br>evaluate the impact of standard traffic symbols on the legibility of guide signs in Iran. In<br>this study, two series of guide signs were designed. First, only the Persian text and on the<br>second, standard traffic symbols were added as well. To compare Perception-Reaction Time<br>(PRT) of reading the signs of the first and second series by users, some tests were assessed.<br>It was concluded that, symbols would improve the legibility of the guide signs and with an<br>increase of the volume of information on the signs, the role of symbols became more<br>effective.</p>
