| contents | <p> </p> <p><span>Health care reform in Kyrgyzstan has undergone numerous changes ever since the country gained independence from the Soviet Union. This paper addresses the main trends in health care reform in Kyrgyzstan, including the implementation of compulsory health insurance, decentralization of health service delivery, increased access to primary health care, and the improvement of quality and equity in health services. On the basis of scholarly research and health policy analyses, we summarize the lessons gained, achievements, challenges, and ongoing strategies in reshaping Kyrgyzstan's health system.
