| contents | <p><span lang="EN-US">This article analyzes the correctional labor institutions established during the Soviet era and their socio-political, pedagogical, legal, and economic functions. The main objective of the study is to identify the structure, operational principles, role in the process of serving sentences and resocialization, and the duties of correctional labor institutions towards society and the state during the period from the 1920s to the 1950s. The analyses presented in the article show that correctional labor institutions served not only as places for serving sentences but also operated as ideological centers aligned with the goals of the Communist Party.
