| contents | <p><span>Objective: To determine social support and its correlation with clinical-sociodemographic factors of older adults who attend wellness centers in Cartagena-Colombia. Methods: Quantitative analytical study. The sample consisted of 417 older adults attending wellness centers, simple random sampling, descriptive statistics were applied, percentages and frequencies and correlation with Chi square. The ethical component of resolution 8430 in Colombia and the principles of Helsinki and Nuremberg were maintained. Results: Females predominated 61.72% (258), aged 73 years, widows 30.86%, hypertensive 94.26% (394), economic resources 50.96% (213) are subsidized, 38.76% (162) from family help and only 3.59% (15) are pensioners, primary education level 54.78% (229), the correlation showed that social support correlates significantly with age P < 0.036, economic resources P < 0.045 and productive activity P < 0.004. Conclusion: The decrease in mobility and economic resources in the elderly, modifies their role in society. By incorporating the family and support networks in aging programs, they could enhance personal and social well-being.</span></p> |
