-
Biogas flowering mixtures have the potential to contribute to more biodiversity in agricultureal landscapes while being used for the production of biogas. To investigate the effect on the diversity of birds, five different fields with the biogas flowering mixture Veitshöchheim Hemp Mix where evaluated over 3 years. Altogether 40 bird species where observed within the fields, many of them on the search of food. Breeding evidence was given for five species: Luscinia svecica, Sylvia communis, Alauda arvensis, Motacilla flava and Acrocephalus palustris. For six more species breeding is likely, for example for Perdix perdix and Coturnix coturnix. All in all the biogas flowering mixture Veitshöchheim Hemp Mix seems to be a resonable food source as well as a welcomed breeding habitat for many birds.
