Also<br>referred to as polyherbal therapy or herb-herb combinations, these formulations leverage the advantages of<br>combining multiple herbs, offering significant benefits over single-herb remedies and conventional<br>allopathic medicines. This trend towards herbal drug therapy has gained momentum worldwide, as people<br>increasingly turn to herbal and plant-based medicines for their safety, efficacy, cultural acceptance, and<br>reduced side effects.<br>The growing awareness and understanding of medicinal plants and their applications have contributed to<br>this shift. Many individuals recognize that natural remedies can be safer and more effective than allopathic<br>drugs in treating various ailments. Currently, there are over 700 mono- and polyherbal preparations<br>available in clinical practice, presented in various forms such as decoctions, tinctures, tablets, and capsules,<br>derived from more than 100 different plants. Among these, polyherbal syrups are particularly valued for<br>their effectiveness and ease of use. This article provides an overview of the latest advancements in the<br>development and evaluation of polyherbal formulations, particularly in syrup form, and their associated<br>pharmacological activities. </p> |
