It begins with concise life histories of each author, situating them within their respective historical and cultural milieus. Next, it analyzes the scope and impact of their principal works on national literary canons and collective identity. The discussion then turns to lesser-known episodes and historiographical debates surrounding their lives, highlighting ambiguities that have shaped modern scholarship. In its final section, the paper undertakes a systematic comparison of Ferdowsi and Shakespeare in terms of stylistic innovation, thematic depth, and cultural influence. Rather than asserting the superiority of one over the other, the study seeks to deepen our understanding of how each author contributed to the formation of Iran’s and England’s cultural self-perceptions. The manuscript will shortly be made available in English, German, French, and Spanish to facilitate broader international engagement.
