contents
This research paper explores how financial technology (FinTech) is transforming credit access in India, particularly among underserved populations. Focusing on digital lending platforms, the study investigates how innovative tools, regulatory shifts, and data-driven underwriting are enabling non-traditional borrowers—including MSMEs, gig workers, women, and rural consumers—to access formal credit. It provides an in-depth analysis of India’s credit gap, assesses the strengths and challenges of digital lending models, and presents case studies of prominent platforms like MobiKwik, Mahila Money, RevFin, and KreditBee. The paper also discusses policy implications, technological enablers such as AI and alternative data, and outlines potential risks such as regulatory uncertainty and data privacy concerns. This report contributes to academic and industry discussions on inclusive finance, digital transformation, and financial innovation in emerging economies.

Publication Date:

2025-05-12

DOI:

10.5281/zenodo.15387386

Resource Type:

Report

Author:

Ravnish Jangra

B.Com (Hons), University of Delhi

ravnishjangra10@gmail.com | https://www.linkedin.com/in/ravnish

License:

Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0)

Keywords:

FinTech, India, Digital Lending, Financial Inclusion, Credit Gap, MSMEs, Alternative Credit Scoring, Financial Technology, Digital Finance, Inclusive Lending, MobiKwik, Mahila Money, RevFin, KreditBee,Financial Innovation
