| contents |
While slant stacking or plane wave decomposition is common in seismic data processing, spherical wave decomposition (SWD) of the source wavefield has not been extensively used. We explore SWD for a point source under radial symmetry and demonstrate its application to multiple suppression using synthetic data with three primaries and their multiples. We show that SWD via a hyperbolic tau-p transform allows cleaner separation of events and compare two inversion approaches: direct hyperbolic spreading and inverse linear tau-p with r₀(tau) correction. The methodology demonstrates superior primary recovery and effective multiple attenuation.
|
