-
In the present report a 1D frequency domain analytical model for wave propagation in networks of mammalian arteries is expanded and used to estimate arterial parameters for five test cases. These test cases include the upper thoracic aorta, common carotid artery, tapered aorta, single bifurcation and full aorta. For each of these test cases a set of input parameters are defined that must be deter mined using time variant values of pressure and volume flow rate that are obtained from a previously conducted 3D numerical simulation. The input parameters of this simulation are known, and are attempted to be redetermined using this estimation procedure. The estimation of these parameters yields a relative deviation of typically less than 20%. This estimation procedure is furthermore verified by performing it on data obtained from the same 1D model with the known values of the inputs and as such must rediscover the same values of the parameters. In this case the estimation technique is able find the exact values of these parameters.
