- <p><span>The study investigated cognitive functions of managerial cognition and employment opportunity development of business education postgraduate students in Rivers State Universities. Two objectives, two research questions and two hypotheses guided the conduct of the study. The researcher adopted correlational research design for the study. The study was conducted in Rivers State. The total population of the study is 368 postgraduate students of Business Education, Faculty of Education in Universities in Rivers State Universities. The sample size of the study is the entire 368 postgraduate Business Education students in Rivers State University and Ignatius Ajuru University of Education. Two different self-constructed questionnaire was used to generate data for the study. The questionnaire was a non-standardized as they were developed from existing literature. The first questionnaire is titled: “Cognitive Functions of Managerial Cognition Questionnaire (MCOQ)”. This research instrument is designed with the aim of determining the cognitive structures of managers. The second research instrument is titled: “Employment Opportunity Development Questionnaire (EODQ)”. The researcher submitted copies of the questionnaires for face and content validation by two experts in the Faculty of Education, Rivers State University, Port Harcourt. In order to objectively establish the reliability of the instrument, test-retest method which gave an overall reliability coefficient of 0.81 and 0.89 respectively. The collected data were analyzed using Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) to answer the research questions while z-ratio transformation associated with the correlation coefficients for each research questions was used to test the corresponding hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance<span>. </span>The findings of the study showed that cognitive flexibility relates to employment opportunities development of Business Education postgraduate students in Rivers State Universities to a high extent; memory relates to employment opportunities development of Business Education postgraduate students in Rivers State Universities to a high extent. Based on the findings of the study, it was recommended that <span>corporate organizations must make it as a significant requirement the need for any individual who wants to assume any managerial role to possess the ability to think in a flexible manner that is devoid of rigidity. This is help to have a balanced view of organizational issues. </span></span></p>
