| contents | <p><b>Genus <i>Hemisphaerius</i> Schaum, 1850</b></p><p><i>Hemisphaerius</i> Schaum, 1850: 71.</p><p>Type species: <i>Hemisphaerius coccinelloides</i> (Burmeister, 1834).</p><p>The characters defining the genus were given by Gnezdilov (2018):</p><p>(1) frons flat, smooth, widened above clypeus, with lateral margins slightly projecting on sides;</p><p>(2) frons and postclypeus without carinae;</p><p>(3) vertex wider than long;</p><p>(4) pro- and mesonotum without carinae;</p><p>(5) costal margin of tegmina not strongly projecting anteriorly under eye;</p><p>(6) hind wings rudimentary;</p><p>(7) metatibiae with 2 lateral spines;</p><p>(8) periandrium asymmetrical;</p><p>(9) aedeagus without ventral hooks;</p><p>(10) posterior margin of pygofer rounded in lateral view;</p><p>(11) gonostyli with short and wide capitulum;</p><p>(12) anal tube wide in dorsal view.</p><p><b>Distribution</b></p><p>China, Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, New Guinea, Solomon Islands (Bourgoin 2025).</p> |
