| contents | <p> <em> Saran district of Bihar is middle Gangetic plain region. It is situated 25°36'N to 26°13' N latitude and 84°24°E to 85°15'E longitude. Some areas of this District of Bihar are flood prone while other areas are drought prone and agriculture is dependent on the monsoon, people lose their crops every year due to the uncertainty of monsoon. Farmer's interest in farming is continuously decreasing and they are forced to migrate in search of their livelihood.</em></p> <p><em> Sericulture generates a chain of economic activities providing employment opportunities to the people in rural, urban and semi urban areas. Sericulture the incidence of unemployment, disquised unemployment, Seasonal unemployment is relived to some extent, especially in the agricultural sect (J. Usha Rani, 2007). </em></p> <p><em> In my study, the possibilities of sericulture and silkworm rearing in Saran district of Bihar, no such study has been done before in this area.</em></p> <p><em> Collection of DFLs(eggs) of Eri silkworm from Andi Resham farm, Begusarai, Bihar for research. Castor leaves were supplied to feed the Eri silkworm larvae, which are widely distributed in Saran district of Bihar. Their response were recorded and finally concluded that Saran district of Bihar can be became a new silk producing area of Bihar.</em></p> |
