  • <p>Before diving into the data, please refer to the description of the <a href="https://mbd.pages.rwth-aachen.de/dlr_rdm/data/IceCraft/intro.html">IceCraft</a> system and the <a href="https://mbd.pages.rwth-aachen.de/dlr_rdm/">TRIPLE</a> project.</p> <p>The data uploaded here describes the variation of salinity with depth. The salinity was measured using a conductivity meter. As the salinity of water increases, so does the conductivity of water. The conductivity meter was immersed in water to measure how easily electrical current flows through it. The conductivity values are converted into salinity using established empirical formulas, as can be found here. The measurement was performed continuously on the water produced by melting ice, as the IceCraft was moving downwards. During the mission, no anomaly was observed regarding the measurement. The SOPs followed during the measurements can be found here. These salinity measurements can be used to calculate the ice porosity using empirical formulas as found here.</p> <p>keywords: Salinity, Porosity</p>
