- <p dir="ltr">The service sector has become a pivotal contributor to India's economic growth and employment generation over the past few decades. This paper investigates the relationship between the service sector and economic growth, as well as its impact on employment, using econometric time-series analysis. The study employs annual data from 1980 to 2021, sourced from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the World Bank. The econometric models are specified to capture both the direct and indirect effects of the service sector on GDP and employment. The results indicate a significant positive relationship between the service sector and economic growth, as well as a negative relationship between the service sector growth and unemployment rates. Policy implications are discussed, highlighting the importance of fostering the service sector for sustained economic growth and employment generation.</p> <p> </p>
