The European idea is outlined through typical images, stereotypes, and clichés that were repeated from one author to another. History textbooks and teachers conveyed to students the notion of the existence of a European identity encompassing a European culture, historical civilization, and Christian spirituality, constituting a political system with distinct national destinies. Romanians were portrayed as having consistently made significant contributions to European history and civilization. The European idea is always subordinated to the Romanian national idea, which is considered the supreme value by all.
