  • <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div dir="auto"> <div> <div> <p>This article offers a structured, critical, and well-documented analysis of the institutional procedures triggered by the death of the Roman Pontiff.<br>Avoiding sensationalist or anecdotal perspectives, its aim is to clarify what actually occurs within the governance framework of the Catholic Church when the papal office becomes vacant.</p> <p>From the official confirmation of death to the temporary administration of the Holy See, each stage is regulated by canonical legislation and centuries of institutional precedent, ensuring both the respect for the deceased officeholder and the continuity of central governance.</p> <p>The primary legal sources for this analysis are the <em>Codex Iuris Canonici</em> promulgated by John Paul II in 1983, the apostolic constitution <em>Universi Dominici Gregis</em> (1996), which governs the <em>Sede Vacante</em> period, and the reforms introduced by Pope Francis, particularly regarding the structure of the Roman Curia and transparency in ecclesiastical administration.</p> <p>The conclave and the election of the new pontiff, due to their complexity and distinct canonical framework, will be addressed in a separate study.</p> </div> </div> </div> </div> <div> <div> <div> </div> <span></span></div> </div> <div> <div> </div> </div> </div> <div> <div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <div> </div>
