contents
This paper presents an efficient companding approach for reducing the Peak-to-Average Power Ratio
(PAPR) in massive MIMO systems, a critical issue in modern wireless communication networks. As the
number of antennas in massive MIMO increases, the potential for high PAPR also rises, leading to
inefficiencies in power amplifier performance, signal distortion, and higher power consumption. The
proposed companding technique aims to mitigate this problem by compressing the dynamic range of the
transmitted signal, reducing its peak power while maintaining acceptable signal quality. The method uses
a linear companding strategy to optimize PAPR reduction without introducing significant complexity or
degradation in performance. Through extensive simulations, the effectiveness of the approach is
demonstrated, showing a significant reduction in PAPR, improved power efficiency, and enhanced system
performance in terms of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and bit error rate (BER). The results indicate that the
proposed companding method can effectively address the PAPR challenges in massive MIMO systems,
making it a promising solution for next-generation communication technologies, such as 5G and beyond.
This approach not only improves the power amplifier efficiency but also contributes to the overall
performance of wireless networks by enhancing the power efficiency, reliability, and scalability of
massive MIMO systems.
